Design
Initial Meeting:
We prefer to start things off by visiting with you so that we can get a feel for where the piece of furniture is to reside. This allows us to begin to understand your styles, tastes, the scale, and surroundings and to gather as much information as you are happy to give. Sometimes this isn’t convenient, in which case we would require some photos or drawings of the space, in advance of discussing it over the phone.
Ideas and Sketches |
Once we have had time to absorb the points and ideas from the meeting we will begin to explore designs through a fluid mix of sketches, AutoCAD drawings and physical models. How and when these are presented vary from project to project, however, usually Josh will communicate the initial ideas in a draft form so as to both provoke discussion and keep the designs open to change.
Often our production schedule is booked up in advance so at these early design stages, we offer the opportunity to secure the next available slot for a $500 deposit. |
Design Presentation |
Working with the preferred aspects of the initial ideas we will then refine the ideas into one design. Josh will usually present the design in a range of mediums, from the preferred method of hand sketched drawings accompanied by AutoCAD production plans and material samples. If a project is particularly complex in nature models and prototypes will be produced. We do not charge for the design process except on very complex or larger scale projects and we will always agree on the costs in advance. Alongside the design we will also discuss the timetable and outline payment schedules for the project.
Following the presentation and discussion, the design will often need tweaking. We will proceed by fine-tuning all the necessary details into a finalized design and fixed quotation. |
